Fields

In another section you have Preference button (1) where you can select the field sorting type and the ability to display additional information for the fields. Next button is Reorder button (2) that allows you to set your own order of columns.

Preferences

When you open the Preferences (1) menu, the Sorting type (3) option is available to sort the list of fields in the field section.
Sorting type options are:

  • Name alphabetically A-Z

  • Name alphabetically Z-A

  • Visible fields first

  • Invisible fields first

  • Fields ID alphabetically A-Z

  • Fields ID alphabetically Z-A

The Additional detailed (4) option includes 3 switches affecting the fields list view:

  • Field ID - showing unique Jira ID of particular field. It might be helpful for solving issues, if there is no data visible, but you are sure this is the correct name → maybe it is the field from another project (field scheme) with same name but different ID. Field IDs are also used in:

  • Prefix - adds the value set in Templating feature to field ID, making it easier to copy and use in template. When you start using templates, being able to copy the exact field ID with prefix will save you a lot of time, learn more about:

  • Column - this allows you to acquire the location of particular fields in your spreadsheet, given with exact indexes of the columns. Such a piece of data can be found for every field for which Show button was pushed. Hidden fields have no such information (because - in fact - they don’t exist in your spreadsheet, thus it’s obvious they have no column assigned), so in order to make it appear, you need to push Show button for them as well. Furthermore, by clicking aforementioned indexes we are navigated straight to where these columns actually are in your spreadsheet. For example, if we click N within Assignee box, the first cell of N column will be selected, exposing its exact location.

Reorder

To change the order of fields (columns in Excel) use Reorder option (2) . Just drag & drop fields to place it in your desired order, to save the changes, press the Save button.

Below Preferences is search box (1) which can help you in finding needed field. Please notice that it searches through field names (not field IDs) while you type, it will narrow down the list of visible fields.

Show / Hide

Field section display list of all available fields. Next to each field there is a toggle button which indicate field is Show (1) or Hide (2) in Excel, after switching toggle, the field immediately appears/hides from the worksheet. Use search box to quickly narrow down the list.

Data for those fields is fetched live, when you decide to show that field. Ability to manage those visible fields and link it with fetching data was one of our main issues in our previous generation of Excel Connector (it could only fetch all or none!).

Excel 365 Connector for Jira solve those problems making app faster and more reliable. However, in case of any performance issues, consider hiding unnecessary columns.

To undo the changes (1), save changes to the current schema (2) or create a new one (3), use one of the buttons at the bottom.
