Templating step by step
We're introducing a templates feature that lets you insert variables into your spreadsheets, making it easier for you to seamlessly fill in specific problem data. This option, refined over the years, allows users to create templates and fill them dynamically in real time using Excel.
Basic usage instruction
Go to the Templating menu and if no issues have been downloaded previously, using the filter list (1) Import the required scope. The limit on the number of issues can be limited (2), the issuee will be imported from the most recently created ones.
Once the data has been downloaded, we have access to the Template part. Here you can set Variable prefix (1) - text, which will be placed before variable.
Select field(s) to insert variable - with this you can search and chose fields.
Select issue (from fetched).
Remember: those fields are related to the chosen issue, it might be different per issue type and project;
When you choose field, select cell in spreadsheet, then use Set Variable button to place it in cell. Those variables are building blocks for your templates.
To fill variable with data, select cell or range of cells and use the Fill+ button.Selected cells with variables will be filled with data from selected issue.
To revert filling up the variable use the back button.
Note: Feature works on selected range and currently reverts only 1 last changes
Multiple variables placed in spreadsheet
Set variables in spreadsheet. There is a special variable
ec365.appVariable->currentDate
, which allows to add timestamp, when data was filled in templateFilled with data
If you change the prefix, then when filling the templates only variables with current prefix will be updated
Changed prefix to “newPrefix”
Result on selection
We are working on further improvements of the feature, if you would like to share your feedback or ideas for improvements. Please use our dedicated Customer Portal
