As mentioned in the preamble, by default, all previously created (in versions earlier than 2.x) types of vacations are set allow to request for only daily ones leaves after an upgrade to version 2.x.
To allow users to request new type of leaves, administrator has to edit a vacation type (1) and select proper type of vacation document (2).
Type of vacation requests period is the property restricting users from requesting specific type of leave. For example, if it's is set to Daily or half-daily, users will not be able to request hourly leaves for a particular vacation type.
