Dear Customer. This page provides the reasoning behind sunsetting our App - Excel Connector as well as explaining further steps that You can take to still have best experience possible - working on Jira in Excel.
First of all and the most important announcement is - it’s not an end it’s just a beginning. We have already release a brand new, refurbished version of Excel Connector - https://marketplace.atlassian.com/apps/1222961/excel-365-connector-for-jira?tab=overview&hosting=cloud
We were trying to tackle technical limitations of technology stack used by old Excel Connector but once we realised we have came up against a brick wall - and delivering value to our Customers using old Excel Connector became extremely hard - we’ve decided to investigate alternative approaches. Turning point was Microsoft announcing its JavaScript API - enabling developers to create more robust, stable and scalable Apps (broadening target platform support).
In various aspects Excel 365 Connector is superior to its predecessor - we have developed it using completely new technology stack, enabling better performance, wider platform support (including Excel online and macOS clients) and more.

What is the timeline?
- the last Jira Server version supported will be 8.22.2.
We will not run compatibility checks for Jira 9 and newer so it might be impossible to use Excel Connector with these versions of Jira.
We will not support Jira 9 or newer.
Excel Connector will be removed from public 3 months after this announcement (no new licenses could be sold after this date) - that would be
existing licenses will remain operational but no bug-fixes nor compatibility update will be delivered
How I can transition to a new Excel 365 Connector?
If You already have an active license of Excel Connector You could apply for compensation discount for Excel 365 Connector. Simply create a ticket with such request on our Service Desk - https://psc-software.atlassian.net/servicedesk/customer/portal/14
We will guide You through the process - trying to make it as smooth experience as possible.
Also we will highly appreciate feedback on Excel 365 Connector in case some features are missing or You will see room for improvement.
I just bought Excel Connector license recently - what do I do?
If your license expires after , please contact us through our Support Portal for a compensation. It will be calculated proportionally to the number of months not covered by Excel Connector maintenance and overall license duration.
