Gadget displaying list of upcoming leaves of team members [2.2.x]

Gadget aims to display list of upcoming leaves of team members. It has an informative role for team managers and for HR team as well as for individuals.

  • Individuals by default are able to see only their own incoming/present day vacations;

  • Team managers can see a situation withing a team they chair;

  • HR can see all teams situation (this page shows situation from an HR member perspective);

Upcoming Vacations gadgets added for Teams 1 and 2 are presented below with corresponding numbers (1 and 2). To add it to a dashboard (like already done in case of Team 1 and 2), whilst being logged in as a member entitled to make editions in an accessed dashboard, click "add a new gadget" (3):



Next, on a newly loaded prompt, head to "All" (1), type proper name as presented below in the search field (2) and click "Add gadget" (3)



Directly after adding mentioned gadget onto a dashboard, it remains editable:

From a drop-down menu (1) it is possible to select desired Teams (its members' vacations are to be displayed). If one is not interested in seeing own requests then it is advised to tick "Hide own requests" (2). If all is set, finally you can click "Save (3) to make a configured gadget visible on your dashboard.

If you spot this message (4) be advised - by default team members are able to see only their own incoming/present day leaves. Check the bottom of this page to see how to change settings in regards to who can see upcoming vacations.

Final result of adding an Upcoming Vacations gadget for all teams, as visible by an HR team member:



The mentioned above message "Team statistics are disabled in configuration. You will be able to see only your own upcoming vacations" does not affect team managers nor HR members as in the presented case, but only individuals from particular team. It aims at protecting privacy of each one in regards to approved leaves. It can be changed by Jira administrator as presented below, under (1):

Upon selecting "Yes" and saving settings, under "Allow users to view statistics", employees can see all approved documents of their teammates.



The below shows an example of user "Patrick Wayne" who belongs to two teams, chaired by different managers:



When option "Allow users to view team statistics" is turned on (meaning that user in any team will be allowed to view approved vacation documents of all their teammates), upon accessing "Vacations" dashboard, he can see all team members' approved vacation requests, of all of the teams that he belongs to:



When option "Allow users to view team statistics" is turned off (meaning that user in any team will not be allowed to view approved vacation documents of any of their teammates), user will see only his own approved requests from all of the teams that he belongs to:



Without member(s) added to a team, HR member will not be able to assign particular user(s) with any leave type via "Add vacation" button.
