General - Filter Column Order

General - Filter Column Order

Filter column order (1) is the second section of General view of Excel 365 Connector.

The feature allows the user to change the order of columns in the filter view. This helps the user adjust the layout and quickly find key information in Jira.

The available options allow the user to manage the order of the columns in the filter. The user can:

  • Restore (2) – resets the column order to Jira’s default configuration.

  • Save(3) – updates (overwrites) the filter's existing column order with the current one.

  • New(4) – saves the current column order as the filter's column order configuration.

These options (3) are not available when the user is using default Jira filters (1). In this case, a message (2) is shown informing the user: “This operation is not available for this filter.”

Restore

Restores the default Jira column order. The user can use it to return to the default configuration. It is blocked when the current column order already matches the default.

How to use:

  • Click the Restore button (1).

  • A modal opens where the user can either cancel (2) or confirm the action by clicking Restore (3).

  • After execution, the action button becomes disabled (4) to prevent repeated execution, and a success popup (5) is shown with relevant information.

How to use:

  • Click the Save button (1).

  • A modal opens where the user can either cancel (2) or confirm the action by clicking Update (3).

  • After execution, the action button becomes disabled (4) to prevent repeated execution, and a success popup (5) is shown with relevant information.

If the user changes the order of fields visible only in the application: Issue Type (1), Summary (2), Project (3), it does not affect the filter column order, as these fields are not handled separately in Jira and do not influence the order of other columns.

In this case, the Save feature is blocked with the message: “App-only fields do not affect filter's column order.” (4)
