To configure Excel Connector add-in click on "Settings" (1), new dialog will appear (2).
Settings dialog is divided into five sections:
By default Resize columns automatically and Group sub-tasks and parents automatically options are enabled. When you disable Resize columns automatically option, the columns width will not adjust automatically. Your sheet will look similarly as shown below (1):
Group sub-tasks and parents automatically search whole sheet for parent issues and their sub-tasks. If both are found, it moves all sub-tasks under their parents issues. This option also allows you to easily hide and show sub-tasks by clicking on either boxes with numbers (1) or boxes with '+' and '-' (2) next to parent issue.
As this documentation is made using Jira Cloud and in it, sub-tasks are not available, to be used in it, no example can be used to illustrate it (more information - https://confluence.atlassian.com/jirasoftwarecloud/setting-up-issue-types-in-next-gen-projects-949233753.html).
